| Rosemount Orange Vineyard Shiraz | A decent Shiraz, but definitely not worth the money. |
| Seilly Riesling Vielles Vignes Schenkenberg | One of the best Rieslings I have tasted till date. The producer is relatively unknown outside France, but this wine is worth every penny. |
| Marchesi Di Barollo Barbaresco | Really gorgeous stuff. A great Barbaresco. |
| Jean Macle Côtes De Jura | A very unusual wine, for a select group of wine lovers. Its not for all. |
| Seilly Gewurztraminer Vielles Vignes Schenkenberg | A nice easy drinking wine from a relatively unknown producer of Alsace. His Reisling though, is great ......to die for. |
| Peppoli Chianti Classico Antinori | A nice simple easy drinking Chianti, that shines when paired with food. Good QPR. |
| Tenute Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva | A good Chianti from the very large stable of Antinori. |
| The Palatine | 66% Merlot, 19% Malbec, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18 months in 1 year old french oak. The 1999 Palatine is not as good as the 1996, but still a great wine nonetheless. |
| Château Moulin Haut Villons Fronsac | This wine is for lovers of oak. |
| Terre Inconnue Sylvie Vdt | This wine is great representation of how a wine maker keeps balance, despite 16%+ alcohol (the label officially says 15%). |
| Howling Wolves Small Batch Cabernet Merlot | A good wine, that will be ready to drink in 2+ years. The cellaring effort will result in a 90's level wine by 2009. |
| Howling Wolves Small Batch Chardonnay | An good wine. Well balanced and ready to drink. Despite being new world, much more European, than the traditional big bold and rounded Californian. |
| Howling Wolves White Shiraz | Easily the QPR winner of the evening. An excellent Blush wine. Ideal for those summer evenings. |
| Howling Wolves Semillon Sauvignon Blanc | A decent wine and an decent QPR value |
| Howling Wolves Shiraz | Overall a very decent wine, and excellent value for the money. |
| Howling Wolves Cabernet Sauvignon | A good decent wine, and a good QPR value. |
| Berberana Vina Allarde, Rioja Reserva | A really good Rioja and considering the price, its a steal. |
| Marchesi Di Barolo, Dolcetto D'alba | A decent wine made from the Dolcetto grape. Nothing exceptional, but a decent QPR value. |
| Casa Lapostle, Apalta Vineyard, Cuvee Alexander, Merlot | A pretty decent wine with a great pedigree. However, it is a bit of a let down, especially considering the price. |
| 1769 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc | A decent effort. Might improve with some cellaring. |
| Bernard Massard Côtes De Greven Macher Pinot Gros Premier Grand Cru | Actually this wine is from Luxembourg. A most unusual and good wine, with incredible complexity both on the nose and the palate. |
| Manor Grove Pathaway Shiraz | A low end wine, with decent QPR value. |
| Taylor Ferguson Coonawara Cabernet Sauvignon Director's Choice | A pretty decent wine and considering the low price at good QPR value. |
| Yernga Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon | Another fruit bomb for a cool - cold winter evening. |
| Echidna Cabernet Merlot | A low end fruit bomb. |
| Taylor Ferguson Willbridge Estate Chardonnay | A simple decent wine, that must be served well chilled to be enjoyed. |
| Echidna Semillon Chardonnay | A decent summer quaffer for mass consumption. |
| Renaissance Chenin Blanc | A very fine wines at an excellent price. A great QPR value. Comes close to the 2005 Grover Sauvignon Blanc as the best white wine in India. Definitely the best Chenin Blanc in India. |
| Merryvale Merlot Rèserve | A good Californian Merlot with admirable restraint. |
| Opus One | What to say ? You have to taste it to believe it. The two masters -- Mondavi and Rothschild have created the perfect blend. The finesse and elegance of Bordeaux with the sunshine and opulence of California. One of the "You must taste it" wines for a wine lover. |
| Barton And Guestier Sauternes Tradition | A good simple, cost-effective, no fault Sauternes. Great QPR value. |
| Clos La Madeleine St. Emilion Grand Cru Classe | Tiny vineyard situated next to Bel Air and Magdelaine in the heart of St Emilion's first growth territory. Extremely rare and extremely good. Delicious. |
| Clos Martinet Priorat | This is a seriously intense wine. Invest in this wine, wait for 10 years and you shall be well rewarded. |
| Merryvale Starmont Merlot | If you love oak and alcohol, this is for you. Otherwise, there are lot more better wines around for the price. |
| Beringer Founder's Estate Merlot | An entry level everyday drinking wine. Nothing exceptional, but other than the heavy oak, no defects either. |
| Bogle Chardonnay | A really good wine, and considering the price -- A STEAL!!!! A definite QPR topper. This wine was tasted by the "masters panel" of the Bangalore Wine Club and rated very good. |
| Penfolds Rawson's Retreat Riesling | A ususual Riesling. Very dry. Exhibits its warmer weather origins, and not the usual floral and green acidity typical of colder climate siblings. |
| Matthew Lang Cabernet Shiraz | This very light red is perfect for all - Its sweet light fruit flavours will appeal to everybody, with a palate that is easy to understand and glowing with an inherent softness makes it imposibly easy to drink. This wine is perfect for every day drinking, large family get-togethers or any occasion when you need something super smooth, light and very affordable. |
| Château Montelena, Montelena Estate, Cabernet Sauvignon | A more exuberant great vintage from the house of Bo Barrett and Montelena. |
| Château Montelena, Montelena Estate, Cabernet Sauvignon | Chateau Montelena was the winner of the now famous or infamous "Paris Tasting" (depending on which side of the ocean you live). You need to read the full tasting notes, to come to your own conclusions. |
| Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon Cave Collection | One of the best Cabernet Sauvignon I have ever tasted. Sells for over $200 (if you can find it), and worth it, to share with that special someone -- who appreciates great wine. |
| Far Niente Chardonnay | Opulent, rich, buttery -- a classic luxurious California Chardonnay. One of the few Chardonnays that is worth its $50+ billing. This is no subtle elegant Nicole Kidman. This is a rich, voluptous, sexy Angelina Joile in your glass. Sante. |
| Dr. Loosen Urziger Wurzgarten Riesling Kabinett Mosel-saar-ruwer | The wines of the Mosel are the most elegant in Germany with the highly terraced vineyards benefiting from the sun's rays reflected by the river and the warmth maintained by the slate soil. They have a pale colour, and charming aroma of citrus fruits and white peaches, and a flavour that is refreshingly fruity with both roundness and a lively acidity. |
| Domaine Bouchard Pere Et Fils Beaune Premier Cru, Cote D'or | This lovely wine comes from four different Premiers Crus in the centre of the Beaune appellation, where Chardonnay grapes are planted on lighter soils than those for Pinot Noir. Pale yellow, with a bouquet of while flowers and acacia blossom, a touch of vanilla from oak ageing and a hint of minerality from the limestone soil, this is a refined, elegant wine from an excellent vintage. |
| Dom Perignon | This is what a fine Champagne should be. It is the finest Dom I have had in the last 10+ years. Write-up as per the wine list. Cuvee Dom Perignon, thought by many connoisseurs to be the finest of all Champagnes, is a byword for luxury and perfection the world over. Made only in the best years and from only vineyards rated Grand Cru 100%, it comes from a finely balanced blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes and is aged at least seven years before release. 1996 is the greatest vintage of the 1990s, surpassing in finesse even the fabulous 1990 itself, and this wonderful Champagne is already proving that its reputation is fully deserved. |
| Château Cos D'estournel Saint-estephe | This famous chateau, whose wine is cellared in a splendid Oriental temple complete with pagoda towers built by Louis Gaspard d'Estournel in the 1830s, is wide accepted as the "First Growth of Saint-Estephe". The 1998, a superb blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot, has a deep velvety colour, rich black pepper and tobacco spices and the long, distinguished flavours of the very finest red wine of the Medoc. It is an expensive wine, but well worth the money. The 2005 Cos d’Estournel is made from an unusual blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot, and 3% Cabernet Franc. Robert Parker 95-97. Any En Primeur offer should not be missed. |
| Nuits-saint-georges Premier Cru Laboure-roi | While Nuits-Saint-Georges possesses no Grand Crus, it has the largest number of Premier Crus in the whole of Burgundy. Made only from Pinot Noir, these wines are robust and full flavoured, needing half a dozen years to show their true quality. This very fine 1996 vintage, one of the best years in Burgundy after the superb 1990, has a deep cherry colour with red berry, autumnal scents, and a smooth, long finish. |
| Grover's La Rèserve | A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Shiraz, raised for 10 months in French Oak. Made under the guidance of Michel Roland by winemaker Abhay Kewadkar, La Reserve is the best red wine in India and an excellent value for money. |
| Lan Rioja Reserva | One of the best wines I have tasted in quite a while and an excellent value for money. 80% Tempranillo, 10% Grenache and 10% Mazuelo. 12 months in barrel of American and French oak. A great Rioja. |
| Sequoia Grove Cabernet Sauvignon, Estate Rèserve | To quote the maestro winemaker Abhay Kewadkar "This is probably the best wine, outside the famous french Chateaus, I have ever tasted". 1991 was the best vintage for the Napa region in the whole of the 1990's decade and this wine shows it. |
| Beringer, Chardonnay, Private Rèserve, Napa Valley | This is a full bodied wine in the classic "new world wine" style, and there is no way to miss the flavours that just explode in the mouth. The wine has an incredible 14.5% alcohol. Impeccably made and balanced wine with a rich, almost oily mouth feel, and spicy butterscotch and almond flavours with an abundance of figs, pears, citrus and nuts, all overlayed by flavours of nuts and vanilla. Full bodied, dense and rich, perfectly balanced with crisp acidity and flavours that linger comfortably on the palate. One of the few Chardonnays that can comfortably keep up with a rich meat like steak. |
| Château Faugeres Saint-emilion Grand Cru | I have never EVER tasted a Merlot this powerful. It puts most cabs to shame. Have this wine with a strong pepper steak and the wine will win!!!! This wine is definitely not to be drunk now. It needs at least 3 more years to mature. I would venture a drinking period from 2008 - 2012. |
| Kendall Jackson Great Estates Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon | A beautiful Cabernet Sauvignon, from the North Coast of Sonoma County, in the classic Kendall Jackson tradition of being soft and supple, yet incredibly powerful with the ripe fruit of California. |
| Coyam Cabernet Sauvignon Syrah Carminiere Merlot | A great powerful wine, that has a great concentrated taste. At price levels under $20, this wine is a mind-blowing value proposition - it is a steal!!!!! |
| La Doucette Pouilly Fume | A great white wine. Perfectly balanced. |
| Kendall Jackson Great Estates Chardonnay Santa Barbara County | If you can still locate this wine, grab it, this is a tremendous buy. If not for yourself, for me. A big bold Chardonnay, "in-your-face", in the true Californian tradition. It is an absolutely vibrant wine and despite the fact that it now 2006, the wine shows no sign of drifting over the hill. |
| Grover's Sauvignon Blanc | Without hesitation, one of the BEST Indian White wines, I have drunk till date. An Indian wine that matches up with the best the Loire has to offer. The heat of 2004 has brought out the fruit completely. Winemaker Abhay Kewadkar has lived up to the challenge and kept the acidity in balance and harmony. |
| Bersano Rosso | An extremely unusual wine. A proper red Spumante!!!!! It is sweet fruits and flowers. You should have this wine along with a desert to truly enjoy it. |
| Rocca Delle Macie Chianti Classico Riserva | The Riserva is aged for 2 years in French Oak, unlike the Classico which is aged for 6 - 10 month in Slavonian or French Oak. Same mix as the Classico -- A blend of 90% Sangiovese, 5% Merlot and 5% Cabernet. This wine is far more intense version of the Classico. At first it was extremely closed. I had to give it more than an hour in the glass for it to even begin opening up. This was one of the most enjoyable chiantis that I have had in a long time. This is one powerful wine that requires a rich intense meal like a steak, to tame it. |
| Rocca Delle Macie Chianti Classico | A blend of 90% Sangiovese, 5% Merlot and 5% Cabernet. For the price, this is a great value. To me, this was the star of the fine Italian tasting evening. |
| Rocca Delle Macie Vernaccia Di San Gimignano | This is not the standard white Chardonnay, Chenin or Sauvignon Blanc one is used to. The oxidised style takes you by surprise. An good aperitif choice. |
| Marques De La Concordia Rioja Reserva | A good Rioja, the Marques De La Concordia Rioja Reserva 2001 is not as heavy and dense as some of the other Riojas I have tasted. The medium-heavy body, provides for much better drinking all around (from aperitif till the end of the meal). |
| Long Flat Cabernet Shiraz Malbec | This is an okay and acceptable wine, but not much much more. |
