| Merlot | Good nose, subtle and fresh with heaps of blackfuit and plums coupled with a well balanced body![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() danm at 1st Jun 2006, 02:12PM |
| Cordone Barolo | Piemonte has a good reputation and this wine will only add to it, as the Wine Spectator says " wines from this vintage -outstanding!" It's well crafted long-lived on both the palate and the nose. My suggestion is too buy some and enjoy! |
| Ashwood | Currently on sale for half price (£3.99) and it's not bad. The appearance has a deep, dark core that leads on to a nice purple core. Hints of plums, dark berries, oak, caramel and vanilla. Soft on the palate. |
| Ferme De Montgolfier Merlot | This Merlot based blend of 2003 is a pretty good vintage and at this price it's an extremely good buy. A typical Merlot with a big complex palate and a typical nose of black berries, spice and plum. danm at 9th Mar 2006, 04:26PM |
| Domaine De La Fontaine Viognier | This is a paticulary fine grape and at this price its a steal. The nose is a little subtle but this is counter balanced by a decent rounded taste. danm at 25th Feb 2006, 05:22PM |
| Charles Melton Wines Cabernet Sauvignon | A great wine needing to be savoured that evolves to a rich, supple and balanced finish. |
| Duckhorn | What the nose promises the wine delivers, oak, currant, herbs and chocolate concentrated together for this rich, supple wine that is superb in the finish. |
| Domaine Millot Battault | A nicely layered vanilla, buttery and peach wine which would improve with a little ageing. |
| Villa Masetti Pinot Grigio | A soft and fragrant wine that deserves really to be drunk on its own to get the full range of flavours. |
| The Black Stump Durif Shiraz 2004 | The 2004 just won the Gold Medal in a French major wine competition- need I say more, Superb! |
| Barone Riscali | A well received Chianti Classico that deserves to be savoured although a little on the pricey side. |
| Finca Antigua Melot | A high quality wine that is a steal at this price, the quality is superb for a wine under £6! danm at 23rd Feb 2006, 03:51PM |
| Chanson | I think the quality of the wine is outweighed by its price, not the best buy. danm at 23rd Feb 2006, 04:18PM |
| Lynch Bages | A classic cru classe from what was considered a merlot vintage. Drinking very well now I guess it would continue to improve for 3-4 years and would last for 10. danm at 23rd Feb 2006, 04:17PM |
